Newark Hate Crime Awareness Week 2020 poster competitions

Local artists Bill and Nadia Ming will be judging entries to two poster competitions.

Local school children are invited to create A4 posters about race hate crime in regards to any cultural group, including their own culture.

Local adults are invited to create A4 posters about hate crime towards disabled people, in regards to any disability, including their own disabilities.

The closing date for entries is 4pm on Wednesday 14th October. Entries can be handed in to the Hate Crime Awareness Stall at Newark Market on Saturday 10th and Wednesday 14th October or the foyer of Newark College.

Prizes of art materials awarded will be handed out at the market stall on Saturday 17th October or delivered to the relevant school, or can be collected from Newark College Foyer by arrangement.

Rules

  1. All entries must be on the theme of preventing or reporting Hate Crime.
  2. Prizes will be awarded in three age bands: under-11; under 18; and adults 18 and over.
  3. All entries must be labelled clearly with the artist's name and age on 31st August 2020 and school, college or other educational or community or religious group attended. Home-schooled children may enter and label their entry "home school".
  4. Each entrant may submit one or two pieces of work. Any entry must be the entrant's own but may have been completed before the announcement of this competition.
  5. Posters for the under-11 category must be A4 size.
  6. Posters for the 11-17 categories and 18 and over categories may be A4 or A3 size.
  7. All entries must be submitted to the Hate Crime Awareness Stall at Newark Market on Saturday 10th and Wednesday 14th October or the Reception at Newark College Friary Road, Newark NG24 1PB, for the attention of Penny Taylor before 4pm on Wednesday, 14th October 2020.
  8. Social Media & Display Permission – parents must sign permission form with entry for under 18s The forms for over 18s can be signed by the participant or by someone acting in their best interest.
  9. Display of Art Work at the Buttermarket will be open to the public in the day on Friday 16th October up to and including Monday 19th October 2020.
  10. Prizes of art materials will be awarded at a prize giving at 12 noon on Saturday 17th October on the HCAW Stall at Newark Market.
  11. Return of Art Work can only happen if the Art work is labelled clearly on the back with the name of the Artist and the address it should be returned to (preferably address of a school or other public venue rather than a home address – though this is acceptable for individual entrants).
